Buying the Anime

Searching for the DVDs? There are numerous routes you can take to own your own discs.

Japanese Release

Ordering Japanese discs gives you the opportunity to get the bonus first-press items (if you order early enough). They are R2 encoded.

You can search for the discs in a Japanese bookstore, usually in the CD section, although it is rarer to find. I have seen disc 6 at the Kinokuniya in Costa Mesa, California, but none of the other discs. You can also try ordering from retailers like CDJapan (reliable but with expensive shipping) or YesAsia. Beware of bootlegs - the official Japanese release is R2, does not have subtitles, and comes on 6 discs - anything else is pirated.

North American Release

ADV Films has the rights to distribute this series in North America. It appears that it will be released over 4 discs, with a 4-3-3-3 episode format. Volume 1 is available as a stand-alone or coupled with a box to hold the full series and has a release date of 2/24/04, with the remaining discs to be released 1 per month afterwards. It appears that the ADV release will use the same covers as the Japanese release, which will be odd since they will not coordinate (for example, the cover for Japanese disc 4 refers to the two-part Coliseum episode by featuring Shizu and Riku; North American disc 4 should contain the last 3 episodes, not Coliseum.
